HISTORY OF LE PEEP RESTAURANTS OF INDIANA
Le Peep Restaurants of Indiana is a licensee of Le Peep
Restaurants Inc., a national company of restaurants specializing in creative
and up-scale breakfast and lunch. The Le Peep concept began in the late 1970's
with one restaurant in a converted gas station in suburban Denver, Colorado.
The concept was an immediate hit, known for serving unique breakfast creations
with high quality, fresh ingredients.
Our company, Le Peep Restaurants of Indiana, was formed by Bill
Eckrich in 1987 to develop and operate Le Peep restaurants in Indianapolis and
throughout the state of Indiana. We opened our first restaurant in Northeast
Indianapolis (Castleton) in January 1988. In our first three months of
operation, we were voted Critic's Choice Best Breakfast in the Indianapolis
Monthly Magazine and we were on our way! A year and a half later, we opened our
second Le Peep Restaurant in Downtown Indianapolis, at the corner of New York
& Illinois Streets. Downtown Indy was pretty sleepy back in late summer of
1989. The third weekend we were open, the city imploded a city-block's worth
of buildings in the area that would become the Circle Center Mall eight years
later. There were literally no other businesses open that early Sunday morning
in September, so our restaurant filled up with people that had come downtown to
witness the building implosion and our weekend business soared after that!
After waiting a couple of years to figure out how to run
more than one or two restaurants, we opened our third Le Peep Restaurant, in
August of 1995, on the Northwest side of Indianapolis in the North Willow
Shopping Center, located at the corner of W. 86th & Township
Line Rd. As more of a neighborhood location, our North Willow restaurant immediately
became popular with the established north side clientele that lived in the many
wonderful neighborhoods of Greenbrier, North Willow, Meridian Hills, Williams Creek,
Arden and Meridian Kessler, as well as southern Carmel and Zionsville.
Our fourth Le Peep was opened in November of 1997, in the Fashion
Mall Commons Shopping Center located in the Keystone Crossing district. With
the high density of upscale shopping and commercial office space in the
Keystone Crossing area, our new restaurant immediately became our second
highest grossing restaurant of our growing company. Many a business deal was
closed at both our Fashion Mall Le Peep and our Downtown Le Peep, that by then
had become a prime destination spot for business breakfast meetings by the movers
and shaker of Indy!
In November of 1999, we ventured north of the
Marion/Hamilton county line to open our fifth restaurant in the Hamilton
Commons shopping center in Carmel. This location at 126th St. and N.
Meridian Streets was again an overnight success, catering to the strong
business base in Carmel as well as the affluent residential base that makes Carmel
Indiana a special place to do business.
Our sixth Le Peep was opened in March of 2001 at W. 71st
St. & I-465, in the Intech Commons Shopping Center. Serving the west
side of Indy, Pike Township, Zionsville and points west, our newest restaurant
has joined it's five other brothers as a vibrant and successful restaurant.
It is our goal to continue to grow our company via the
addition of new Le Peep Restaurants throughout greater Indianapolis and other
markets in Indiana and beyond.
We have been blessed with a wonderful team of committed
industry professionals that serve as Managers, Hosts, Servers, Bussers, Cooks
and Dish Machine Operators. This team is the life-blood of our company and are
responsible for the fantastic food quality and tremendous guest service that
our clients enjoy when they dine with us.
